Stay Safe (Levi X Reader)

He crossed my arms over his chest, tapping his foot impatiently. Where is she? The thought floated in his head no matter how many times he attempted to push it away. But why should he worry? The damn brat is always late, one of her bad habits. She’ll be here any second.

Just as he was about to set out for her, she rounded the corner. He mentally decided to talk to her about her timing later. He swiftly grabbed her by the wrist, hauling her to the corner. A light yelp tore from her throat at the sudden action.

Her (e/c) eyes widened when he pressed her gently to the wall. “Oh! It’s just you,” she murmured, glancing down nervously. It was a hard task trying not to smile when she blushes. Such a soft pink, it mixes in with her (s/c) skin. “I didn't think you’d remember…”

He allowed a small smirk to form, just for the sake of her saying it looked nice. “You’re an idiot for thinking that.”

She smiled, looking back up at him. “You never know. You could forget one day,” she said. He flicked her forehead, earning a soft, “Ow!” and a light nudge.

Levi raised a hand to her face, tipping her chin up so her eyes met his. “Stay safe for me, alright? If they’re coming for you, don’t be a hero. Just get away from there, and come back safe to me, okay?” he whispered.

She nodded, a small smile gracing her features. “I know, Levi, I know. You tell me this before every expedition,” she said. An airy laugh left her lips. “I’ll be fine! I promise, I’ll come back safe to you. Don’t I do it every time?”

He sighed, attempting to make his gulp unnoticed. Then he did the same thing he did every time with these moments. He took in her features.  From the silky hair to her bright eyes. The small crease between her eyebrows, and the gentle curve of her lips. He grazed his thumb over the soft pink skin, an involuntary shiver running down his spine at the texture.

Her eyes darted up, watching the emotions flicker through his steely grey orbs. She kissed the pad of his thumb, keeping her gaze on his. “I’ll be fine,” she whispered.

He nodded, hand drifting to the back of her head. He leaned down, pressing his lips against hers. How passionate a small touch could be, he was unsure of, but it happened with the two of them. They could care less about the cadets walking by to get to the gates giving them stares, they were in their own little world. Her fingers slowly splayed out across his chest, feeling him relax at her touch. If only they could stay like that for eternity, so close, just the two of them.

“Alright lovebirds, time’s up! Let’s get this show on the road!” Hanji’s shrill voice announced. The two jumped apart, although Levi still held her close to his chest.

“Hanji, what the hell?” He hissed, sending her a murderous glare.

The brunette only giggled and skipped away, off to badger Erwin about something. Levi muttered a few curses under breath, pulling her closer. She cupped his face, pulling him down into another sweet and soft kiss.

“And you, don’t you die on me, got that?” she said. He rolled his eyes, leaning back in. She placed a finger over his lips. “You get more after the expedition,” she said. Levi gave her a deadpan expression, to which she tried to match up with. He finally slapped her hand away, peppering her face with kisses. She giggled trying to pull away. “L-Levi!” she said in between laughter and kisses. “S-Stop! People are staring!” she giggled.

“Shut up and let me kiss you, idiot,” he mumbled, pressing his lips to her cheeks, forehead, nose, anywhere he could. She laughed, holding his face and pressing her lips to his.

“H-Heichou? Hanji wanted to speak to you,” A voice said. Levi groaned and turned, meeting a pair of green eyes.

“God fucking dammit,” he muttered, resisting to punch Eren in the face. “Fine, tell her I’ll be there in a second.” Eren stumbled off without another word.

Levi turned back, giving her one final peck. “I love you. Stay safe, and come back to me,” he said.

She grinned. “I love you too. I will, don’t worry,”

Levi stood in the same corner, two months later. He ran his fingers over the cold stone, still remembering her figure pinned against it. A small smirk adorned his lips as he pressed his forehead to the wall.

He felt a small tap on his shoulder. He turned his head, keeping his hand splayed out over the stone. Hanji gave him a small smile, glancing down at the floor. “Do you miss her?” she whispered.

Levi looked back at the wall. “Yeah,” he murmured. “The girl didn't keep her promise of coming back,” he said with a dry chuckle.

Hanji stared at his back for a moment. He had changed over those two months. His posture was slouched, he had dark circles under his eyes, his hair was unkempt and he seemed to lose his faith in everything. “She’d want you to stay safe for her,” she said softly.

He stared at the grey wall, breaths slow and steady. He took in a gulp of air. “I know.”

Hanji hesitated before putting her hand on his shoulder. “Well, come on. The troops are waiting. You know only a few titans are left.” she said with a smile. When he didn't respond, she sighed. “She’d be proud of you, Levi.”

“I know. Just leave me alone for a second.”

Hanji backed away without another word. He let out a deep sigh once her echoing footsteps faded off. He pressed both hands to the wall, closing his eyes. Silence enclosed around him, filling every nook and cranny until he finally whispered what he said every time he lost hope.

“Wish me luck, my love.”
